In a survival situation, you won’t have a lot of luxury or choice in terms of food.  How do you stretch out your meager supplies to the maximum?  Kristen Swensson from the Cheap Healthy Good blog (I like the name already)  has a great post about making healthy meals from one single chicken, with a budget of $25.

She managed to spread out the 7lb chicken over 5 days and 17 meals, each meal serving 2 people.  She made use of everything that was available in her pantry.

This is a great example of how frugality and a bit of ingenuity can help you along.  It’s all good in theory, but it’s always good to practice.  Good news : Swensson included recipes of all her meals, so you can try out yourself.
