Batten your hatches and prepare to be assaulted… the 2008 Atlantic storm season officially kicks off on 1st June. This will be a busy storm season, with the American National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration officials predicting 12 to 16 named storms and two to five major hurricanes.

An average season has 11 named storms — in 2005, we had 28, which was twice what was predicted by officials. If you live in the US Atlantic coast, make sure your preps are ready. It will get interesting all the way until the storm season dies down in November.
