Which rechargeable batteries do you use?
Rechargeable batteries are great for many reasons :
- they are cheaper in the long run
- they are good for the environment
- they hold higher capacities compared to disposable ones
However, rechargeable batteries do have a few weaknesses. One of them is the high initial cost. Another is the dreaded self-discharge factor. A rechargeable battery generally loses its charge quite quickly, so if you don’t use it more or less immediately, you do need to recharge it. In recent years, there have been developments in this area. New NIMH batteries like the Sanyo Eneloop, Varta Ready2Use, Rayovac Hybrid, and Titanium Power Enduro can hold their charge longer. The Eneloops, for example, are rated to lose only 15% of their charge over a year.
