Fenix P1D-CE Black (Cree Edition), SuperBright 1XCR123A LED Flashlight (5 Output levels) - 135 Lumens

LED (Light Emitting diodes) lights are a welcome improvement over traditional flashlights with incandescent bulbs, for several reasons, including:
– shock resistance (due to being solid-state components)
– a whiter light
– energy efficiency

For the past few years, Luxeon LEDs from Philips Lumileds have been very popular due to its competitive price/performance ratio. Now we have Cree – a new leader with its XLamp series of LED. The XLamp XR-E LEDs deliver unprecedented levels of white LED brightness and efficiency, with typical performance of 80 lumens and 70 lumens per watt at 350 mA. In layman’s terms, it basically means that Cree LEDs run as bright as top-line Luxeons for longer periods.

Cree versions of the popular Fenix flashlights are now widely available from online retailers like Fenix Store and Lighthound, from US$46 for the AAA model.
